August Moon Hosta features seersuckered, heart-shaped, bright golden leaves with prominent veins. A mound of this variety of hosta can grow up to a height of 22 inches, and in some cases, even more. It generally acquires a spread of 36-42 inches. Hosta August Moon displays a greater tolerance for sun compared to other hosta varieties. The morning sun enhances its leaf color. They grow best when planted in full to partial shade. August Moon displays a good tolerance to a wide range of soil types and prefers even soil moisture.
It blooms pale lavender flowers on 24″ scapes in midsummer. Like other varieties of hostas, August Moon is grown primarily for its foliage (and not the flowers). It can be used for a variety of purposes, ranging from tree-lined sidewalks to woodland gardens and can even be planted in pots and containers.
